About Spirits and Paranormal

Here are some commonly used definitions of paranormal and ghosts

paranormal

An event or perception is said to be paranormal if it involves forces or
agencies that are beyond scientific explanation but which are
nevertheless mysteriously experienced by those with psychic powers,
such as extrasensory perception or psychokinesis.

Events are also said to be paranormal if they are perceived as being
beyond scientific explanation, even if the perception is due to ignorance.
For example, parapsychologist Charles Tart explains how he first got
interested in the paranormal in the following story:

There was a time, years ago, when I was highly
skeptical of any paranormal claims of any kind. One
of the things that convinced me that there must be
something to this is a strange experience that I
personally went through. It was wartime. I was at
Berkeley, California, and everybody was working
overtime....the young lady who was my assistant at
the time worked with me until very late this one
night. She finally went home; I went home. Then the
very next day she came in, all excited....She
reported that during this night she had suddenly sat
bolt upright in her bed, convinced that something
terrible had happened. "I had a terrible sense of
foreboding," she said, but she did not know what had
happened. "I immediately swung out of bed and went
over to the window and looked outside to see if I
could see anything that might have happened like an
accident. I was just turning away from the window
and suddenly the window shook violently. I couldn't
understand that. I went back to bed, woke up the
next morning and listened to the radio." A munitions
ship at Port Chicago had exploded. It literally took
Port Chicago off the map. It leveled the entire town
and over 300 people were killed....She said she had
sensed the moment when all these people were
snuffed out in this mighty explosion. How would she
have suddenly become terrified, jumped out of bed,
gone to the window, and then - from 35 miles away,
the shock wave had reached Berkeley and shook the
                         window?

ghosts (poltergeists)

A ghost is the alleged spirit of a dead person. Ghosts are often
depicted as haunting places, especially houses where murders have
occurred. Why some murder victims would stick around for eternity to
haunt a place, while others seem to evaporate is one of the great
mysteries of existence better left to literary types to ponder. Most
philosophers consider the concept of ghosts to be on par with that of
fairies.

A poltergeist (literally, a noisy spirit) is a noisy ghost. Poltergeists
make their presence known by rapping sounds and are considered by
some to be the first "rap" artists. These are the ghosts who like to cause
disturbances by doing such naughty things as throwing furniture or pots
and pans around.

Most nations have a love of ghost stories, but the English seem to be
especially fond of their ghosts.

Ghost Hunt - going to a place were there have been no sightings of ghosts
and trying to catch some on film (video and photos), sounds, eyewitness, etc.
(graveyards are the number one place to start, churches, schools and older
buildings too)

Ghost Investigation - going to a known haunted place and recording data
(video, photos, audio, temperatures), notes, interviews and other evidence to
prove/disprove the haunting and to assist the owners and the spirits in
moving on and leaving the place if they want that.   The assistance can be
either you directly assisting the owner with the situation or putting them in
contact with experienced groups or individuals that  will try to resolve the
situation.  Your assistance can be something as simple as educating them on
what is going on and their options.

Types of Ghosts (below is a updated version of this info)

There are generally 2 types of spirits you may encounter.  One was a human at
one time and it has remained on this level for some reason.  It may not know
it's dead, may be held here by unfinished business, guilt, etc.  These spirits
are like the person was when they were alive, so they could be good or bad,
just like the living, but not normally dangerous.  This human spirit is the type
you will encounter 95% of the time.  You could also witness a residual
haunting which is just a playback of a past event.  This is just like watching a
video from the past playing over and over.  The other type of spirit you may
encounter were never human and are generally bad news.  You must be aware
of  this type but not obsessed with them, the chances that you will encounter
them in a regular ghost hunt are slim.  I have experienced both types and I just
want to make you aware of their existence.  So be aware and protect yourself
and you should have no problem.

My List of Different Types of Paranormal

First of all I like to state that this is based on my opinion and experience.
Others may have a different opinion.

ORBS:

Are in the form of balls of light. They are life forms that can travel in groups,
they are believed to be the human soul or life force of those that use to inhabit
a human body here on earth. Many Psychics (including myself) have been able to talk to them on a regular basis, and ghosthunters have encountered them quite frequently. They are spirits who have either willingly stayed or are unable to find their way to the spirit world. They are bound to their previous life and/or location. The longer they remain her the harder it may before them to move on to the spirit world.

GHOSTS:

Normally harmless for the most part and have relatively no desire to bring harm to anyone nor do they have much of an awareness to act as such.
They have been known however to disrupt the lives of those they effect, play pranks, and move things.

EVIL SPIRITS/DEMONS:

This spirits never had a human body, they have additional powers including being able to sway and tempt our reasoning. This is why Ouija Boards and other devices should be avoided. They have the ability to open windows to other realms and can attract evil/bad spirits. If you are experiencing what you consider to be effects of an evil/demon/bad spirits it could be your location or you could have opened a window like with a Ouija Board or Seance. In other word you may have drawn them to you.

SPIRITS:

Usually appear in ectoplasm mist or full body apparition. They are permitted to visit and even communicate messages when they have permission to do so.
Many believe, that we have Spirits assigned to us to watch over us. They usually appear when they have something to communicate to us.
